Pontiac's Oakland Towne Center

Whoa! As soon as you enter the historic downtown Pontiac area, you notice this gorgeous art deco building, the Oakland Towne Center. Formerly the Pontiac State Bank Building, it has been Pontiac's tallest building since 1929. Chief Pontiac, the leader of the Ottawa Indians in the early 1700's, is depicted in sculpture. The white terracotta accents at the top make it look very distinctive and gothic, begging one to explore the upper reaches of this unique skyscraper.

  1. I've been inside that building. Very beautiful. But at the same time . A Very old building. The elevator is a trip in itself. SCARY ! You get the feeling you won't make it to the floor you going to. I've been as high as the 14th floor. I really wanted to go to the top. But it was closed to the public. One day I'll try again.

  2. I also want to mention. Office space is cheap. About $400 a month. Reason I was there. Rock bands & rappers rent practice space in that building. But be warned there is no security. Bums come in and out the building. High priced gear will go missing. And just down the block is a Pawn shop
