The Hurlbut Memorial Gate in Detroit

This unusual, elegant gate is located in front of the Waterworks Park on Jefferson in Detroit. It's named after Chauncy Hurlburt who served as city water commissioner and donated the funds to build this Beaux-Arts classical gateway in 1894. Structures like this are one great reason to take a ride up Jefferson Avenue and back again.
