On November 10, 1975 the Great Lakes freighter Edmund Fitzgerald went down in Lake Superior, shocking us all. The "Big Fitz" sunk during a huge storm on the lake that generated 35 foot waves. Thirty-six years later, this poignant make-shift memorable in the sand up at Whitefish Point helps us remember the event, the 29 lives that were lost and serves as a reminder of how fragile life is. Thanks, Rolf, for the photo.
