Harbor Springs Public Library
We love old libraries with creaky floors and character galore. The Harbor Springs Public Library matches that description, but it also has the latest hot-selling tomes and modern amenities such as wifi, audiobooks and computers for public use. It has been on the second floor of this building for more than a century. They are funded by donations and the fact that they rent out the first floor to a fudge shop! Tonight at 7:30pm they are showing the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Rochester Hills' Grand Tavern
Probably the best buffet we've seen going in Michigan for the price of $9.95 is at Grand Tavern. Where else can you get authentic French crepes made on a griddle in front of you or made to order omelets? We were impressed with the selection of fresh fruit and many other freshly prepared sides. How fun to watch and chat with rugby fanatics watching the England vs France game on a myriad of wide screen TVs. It was sensory overload! Location is next to WalMart off M-59 and Adams in Rochester Hills.

Molly Laufer's Fish
Looking for a unique gift for your valentine? May we suggest a one-of-a-kind fish made of driftwood by northern Michigan artist Molly Laufer? The Stone Hedge Gallery in Elk Rapids said they literally fly off the wall. We've seen them for sale at Northwoods Hardware in Glen Arbor as well! Nothing says I love you like a Molly Laufer creation.

Abraham Lincoln Mask at The Henry Ford
It's pretty weird to see Lincoln's death mask, but it is there at the Henry Ford in Dearborn and since today is his birthday, February 12, 1809, we thought we'd add that bit of trivia. When you think about it, they do have some pretty macabre stuff at The Henry: his death mask, the chair in which he sat when he got shot, the car Kennedy was assassinated in. It makes for an interesting tour of the museum!

Trillium NCG Cinema and Imax in Grand Blanc
Movie lovers enjoy Grand Blanc's NCG Trillium Cinema complex. The Imax Theatre only costs $12. There are free refills on pop and popcorn. Matinée showings before 6pm are just five dollars. Their comfy seats have some sort of memory foam that you just meld into. They also have a free movie card. When you buy ten movies the next one is free. Open about six years now, we think the exterior has a cool art deco Hollywoodesque look.
