M is for Mitten and Michael G Monroe

We love Michael G Monroe and the book he illustrated M is for Mitten: A Michigan Alphabet. We have our visitors from out-of-state read the book to familiarize themselves with the beauty and bounty around us. We often make them memorize it! It is a tome that belongs in every Michigan family's home.  You can guess what a lot of the letters are already. Michael has been chosen as Michigan's Wildlife Artist of the Year. His Monroe Art Studio is located in Brighton

Today they make them to remind you to vote!  The first store began in Livonia and now there are 12 boutiques in the Metro area with another opening soon in Waterford. These photos were taken at the Warren bakery on Mound Road, where three eager faces are waiting to serve you!

On the perimeter of Green Oak Village Place in Brighton stands Jameson's Irish Pub. We enjoyed our first time here this week imbibing in reubens and a santa fe sandwich with avocado and chipotle sauce. It has a lively ambience and an interesting irish writers corner.  The outdoor patio is very inviting. They have been open for a year and are associated with Woody's in Royal Oak.

Betty Arnold, photographer

Photographer, Betty Arnold, lives in Brighton and loves to take photos. Animals are her specialty. With her super long lens, she passionately captures these little critters in their natural surroundings. Her work is awesome.  You can see what she produces at her own website Doodlebug Gallery and also at the gallery in Milford called Aubergine.  Her photos are framed and also turned into beautiful coasters and notecards.
