Greenbush Brewery in Sawyer

A craft beer taproom that uses mirepoix in their pub grub?  You will say it is a match made in heaven when you try the Greenbush Brews with their food. We gobbled down their homemade hummus and warm pita with a super beer sampler tray consisting of Memento Mori, Anger, Dune Gräs, Penitence, Red Bud and 1825.  They held a Brew & View two days ago, showing Spaceballs. What a classic. The Brewer's Table Dinner tonight is SOLD OUT! Get your reservations in for the Bistro on the Boulevard Beer Dinner for Thursday, Nov 29th.

Sawyer Garden Center

We had to rub our eyes when we entered the Sawyer Garden Center down in Michigan's southwest corner.  Is this place for real? They offer gourmet foods, gorgeous Christmas decorations, live greens, unique gifts and there was even a wine tasting going on.  It was like an oasis in the middle of a desert! Pure fun.

Soé Café in Sawyer

Located in Sawyer, the Soé Café is pronounced SO ee.  And we thought it was borderline divine. With an outdoor patio to take your meals al fresco and very attentive service, we can also recommend the food and wine. The trout rillettes or pâté was excellent served on toast points. The duck was perfectly done and very memorable. But the discovery of a new and delicious Michigan wine was astounding!  Made by well known Château Grand Traverse, it is called Pinot Noir Vin Gris.....with just a pale hint of pink --it is a summer quaffer extraordinaire.

Warren Dunes State Park

Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer is the place to have fun! The high-relief sand dunes were formed over 10,000 years ago during the recession of the glacial lakes. They are a natural phenomenon found no where else in the world. Besides the hiking, swimming, hunting, fishing, and birding you can do in this great Michigan State Park, you can experience the joy of running down the dunes.
