Hershberger Amish Furniture in Snover

If you are traveling Van Dyke up in the thumb, you'll notice one sign indicating Hershberger Furniture south of Bad Axe. The 2 mile trek to the east on Shabbona Road is definitely worth a visit. It's a picturesque Amish farm in Snover where Aaron Hershberger creates beautiful rustic works of art from log beds and dressers to dining room tables, rocking chairs and bar stools.

Good Goods in Saugatuck

Saugatuck has been a great destination for many vacationers for eons. There are tons of vacation rentals which is a huge indicator of how popular this place is right on Lake Michigan. It is definitely an artist's community and with the proximity of Oval Beach--one of the top rated sand spots of the world--and many fine eateries and shops to poke in and out of, well, it's just another bright spot in our state. Spring has sprung! These are shots from Good Goods on the corner of Maple and Water Street.  Open since 1989, owner Sandra Randolph sells the works of over 200 American artists. Rich Kolb's yardbirds are artfully displayed inside and out. Everyone adores Sarah Grant's Sticks Furniture and art objects.

Shrine of the Pines in Baldwin

Baldwin’s Shrine of the Pines  is certainly worth a visit. We are in awe of the talent of the late Mr. Raymond W. Overholzer. The complex consists of  a Rustic Furniture Museum, nature trails and gift shop. Walking the nature trails along the Pere Marquette River, you’ll see plenty of birds, deer and turkey among the towering white pines.  In the museum there are hundreds of  handcrafted masterpieces including the world's largest collection of rustic pine furniture. Check out the dining room table with its unique chairs.  The furniture was all handcrafted by the artist from the tree stumps left behind in the 1920's by the logging community.
