Plumber's Helper Fishing Charters

If you are interested in catching salmon or steelhead, lake trout or walleye, Jim Musselman is the man to see on the Great Lakes.  He owns and runs Plumber's Helper, a fishing charter service on Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. Besides captain and crew, he can take up to six people out on his 33 foot Bertram fly bridge cruiser. A master plumber, Captain Musselman has been plying our Michigan waters for more than a quarter century with an unblemished safety record. He knows where the fishies hide.

Canoeing the Pere Marquette River

A peaceful float or canoe trip down the Père Marquette River rates an awesome ten on our Michigan scale. Named after the French Jesuit priest who explored the region and established the first communities in Michigan in the 1600's, the 66 miles from Baldwin out to Lake Michigan have been designated as a National Scenic River and is known far and wide for its trout and salmon fishing. This shot was taken near Scottsville.

Salmon Fishing off Ludington

Michigan is considered a hunter's and fisherman's paradise. Salmon fishing is best if you get up at 4am and head out to the big waters (Lake Michigan) before the sun rises. King salmon charters are hired July through October. The biggest one caught in Michigan was 30 pounds. We caught this one off the coast of Ludington, considered Michigan's #1 fishing port. It only weighed about 21 pounds. Twas some good eatin' though!
