Crooked Tree Yarn in Cross Village

For knitting aficionados, Crooked Tree Yarns are spun in East Jordan, Michigan. They have such lucsious colors like lupine, rain, tiger lily, poppy and sweet pea. They are sold in Cross Village at Three Pines Studio which is a hangout for working artists and where they also provide workshops for All Things Fiber as well as Knitting Circle Workshops. Their gallery showcases only northern Michigan artists. We found these beautiful hand dyed yarns today at the Harbor Springs market.

Sip N Knit in Ithaca

It was a lovely experience recently at Sip-N-Knit in Ithaca where the lure of coffee beckons one to linger awhile and where good yarns are shared.  Open everyday except Sunday, this shop offers knitting classes, free wireless, a sandwich counter and even a pajama party coming up this Friday at 6pm. Wear your favorite flannel pjs and slippers and bring your needles, yarn and project. Cost is $10 but that includes a buffet supper! Their recent goal was to give away 1000 hats to their local cancer treatment centers and outreach missions.  We liked this cozy boutique a lot.

Happy Goat Lucky Ewe Fiber Farm in Mason

If you are interested in wool and mohair from Michigan sheep and goats, look no further than Mason where you will find the Happy Goat Lucky Ewe Fiber Farm.  Make an appointment to visit the farm where you can see their 1865 converted chicken coop filled with lovely creations like scarves, socks, sweaters, hats, etc. Joedy and Bridget Patrick own the farm and the menagerie of animals.  It's a love affair with the earth and its creatures.

Knit a Round Yarn Shop in Ann Arbor

The best source for yarn and knitting supplies in Ann Arbor is Knit A Round in the Traver Village Shopping Center. It will be celebrating its 11th anniversary in May. Suzie is wearing a handknit pair of socks as she is typing this purchased by her sister Jan from Knit A Round and knitted for her as a Christmas present.  Life doesn't get any better than this.  There are lots of books and knowledgeable personnel to help you out in your knitting projects.

Berkley's Have You Any Wool Yarn Shop

We have been in a lot of knit/crochet shops, but the one in Berkley, "Have You Any Wool?", really impressed us. They have lots of classes to take to learn how to make all these wonderful creations, and tons and tons of the most gorgeous yarns to work with. You can feel the warmth oozing from this boutique when you walk in. It's a friendly place, perhaps our favorite yarn shop in Michigan.
