Twenty miles of trails make Commerce Township's Proud Lake State Recreation Area a hiker/skier paradise with views of the Huron River, majestic white pines, picnic tables, bathrooms, campfire rings and plentiful wildlife. It sure sounded like we heard cranes frolicking in the trees. Can Spring be that close? Our 5-mile hike today was with the very friendly Metro Detroit Outdoor and Hiking. Next Saturday they are exploring Maybury State Park in the moonlight!
